What about Madagascar Rosewood. The pictures I have seen are wonderful. Looks in many ways like Brazilian. What about tone and workability?

This stuff is very nice. It pings great and it is very tonal just when you are rubbing your hands on the lumber.

Here are a few shots of a guitar I am building now with it. This is the LMI stuff. The guitar is a little further along than this now, but I haven't had much of a chance to shoot it recently.

I will post more pics when I have it finished.

No, it is Frank Finocchio's place. I try to take one work shop per year. I went out to see him about voicing a guitar. I built most of this guitar there.

I use Madagascar Rosewood fairly frequently lately... french polishing one and making another right now even. I find it to be excellent wood, though it requires a lot of pore filling. it is comprable to Brazilian in most ways, and excells it in the fact that most of it is perfectly quarter sawn. I was lucky to find a bunch locally several years ago and resaw it. Still have some left to resaw even.

Regards,
Joshua French

That's beautiful Brock! I thought that shop looked familiar

I'd like to make it back up to Frank's sometime. Just haven't had the time or the dough.
